John Pollock joined the firm as a named principal in 1980. In his practice, which spans more than fifty years, he
has devoted most of his time as a trial lawyer, both in the
state and the federal courts, both in jury and non-jury cases.
John has argued cases in both the California Supreme Court
and the United States Supreme Court. His practice has concentrated
in the fields of land use and inverse condemnation, representing
both plaintiffs and defendants. John has been a Fellow of
the American College of Trial Lawyers for more than thirty
years. Now, as a semi-retired attorney, he continues to represent
clients that have retained him over the years. Today, much
of his practice is in the field of estate planning and probate
and acting as trustee of probate trusts.
John has always been active in the organized bar. He has
served on more than ten committees of the Los Angeles County
Bar Association and was a Trustee for three years. He was
chairman of the Federal Courts Committee and the Litigation
Section. At the State Bar level, he was a long time member
of the Committee on Administration of Justice, and also served
as chairman of the Federal Courts Committee.
John has had a lifelong association with the Boy Scouts of
America. As a youth in Sacramento, he was an Eagle Scout. As an adult, he has received the Distinguished Eagle Scout
award, and the Silver Antelope award. He has served on the
Executive Board of the Los Angeles Area Council for more than
50 years, and in 1971 was its President.
For the past 30 years John has been the President of The
Fletcher Jones Foundation, a grant-making foundation which
provides financial support to the private colleges and universities
of California. He is also a Trustee of the Good Hope Medical
Foundation, which supports the hospitals of the Los Angeles
                    area.
